I invite you to join me on this poetry adventure!
Poetry is something that lives inside of us all. Whether you are an experienced writer, beginner, or have no experience at all, poetry is something we can all do and enjoy. I want to instill a love of poetry in my students. I have always loved and enjoyed poetry and I want young students to develop a passion for it as well. I hope these lessons will inspire and encourage you to write your own poetry!
"I Wonder" Poetry
Here is a poetry invitation lesson using the collection of poems by Amy Ludwig Vanderwater entitled Forest Has a Song. The specific poem I selected for this lesson is "Bone Pile." I hope you enjoy!
Haiku
Here is my second poetry lesson focusing on Haiku! I used the book A Kick in the Head, which is a collection of poetry selected by Paul B. Janeczko and illustrated by Chris Raschka. This book is a guide to poetic forms, which is what I wanted to focus on for this lesson, specifically Haiku. I hope you enjoy it!
Feel free to post your own haiku poem to the Padlet!
